Purple Cowboy
WINEMAKER NOTES
This gutsy blend comes from cowboy wine country, Paso Robles, CA. The grapes are from the eastern side of the AVA. It is warmer, drier, and produces fruit-forward, full-bodied wines with soft tannins and balanced acidity.
Enjoy with barbecue, grilled, braised, or roasted meats.
Blend: 46% Petite Sirah, 52% Malbec, 2% Merlot
The grapes for Purple Cowboy come primarily from Paso Robles. It is the largest appellation in San Luis Obispo County on California’s famed Central Coast. Over the years, Paso Robles produced structured Cabernet Sauvignon. More recently, a group of winemakers known as the Rhone Rangers has garnered attention with Syrah. Syrah is a grape well-suited to this warmer region. The Paso Robles AVA is sometimes called Cowboy Wine Country. This is a reference to its historic identity as a ranching and farming area. Daytime temperatures often top 90 Degrees. In the evening the vines cool by fog cascading down the eastern slope of the Santa Lucia range. The range separates Paso from the Pacific Coast. Purple Cowboy is from the eastern half of the AVA. It is warmer, drier, and produces full-bodied wines with rich fruit character, soft tannins, and balanced acidity.
